Well we have had a very busy time, since my last update.
Our membership is at an all-time high with around 220 members, the Breakfast Clubs are seeing minimum numbers of 35 and this year’s calendar is full of new and exciting events.
We have many new exciting projects up and running, our Pump It Up Challenge with Mitsubishi has been launched in all 11 West Lothian secondary schools with the final being held at Howden Park on 5th of June. We were delighted to welcome Annabelle Ewing Minster for Youth and Employment to the Mitsubishi factory to hear about the challenge which resulted in national press coverage and her visit was a huge success.
Our #getajob is being launched at the end of March. This is an employability project run in partnership with West Lothian College and our members. It is a two week course for young people to attend the College to gain CV and interview skills, they will then get a chance to test these skills with real employers who will give them positive feedback on how they have done and how they can improve. If anyone is interested in being involved in this project then please get in touch with Brenda.email@example.com and she can email you all of the information.
We have some very inspitational events coming up, including the Enterprise with Ireland breakfast event to be held on 19th of March at Houston House Hotel. It is in association with the Irish Consulate and we will be addressed by Minster Joe McHugh on behalf of the Irish Government. The focus will be on the two way trade between Scotland and Ireland. Ireland gives small businesses a great opportunity to step into the world of export without the many barriers faced with exporting around the rest of the world.
We also have our Spring Keynote event dinner, being run for the 2nd time, and once again sponsored by Clydesdale Bank. This is an evening for fun and networking with our inspirational speaker Alec Stewart OBE known as the ‘gaffer’ and is the most capped captain England cricketer of all time. Last year’s event was a great night enjoyed by all so don’t miss out this year!
