Local home care company Home Instead is delighted to launch its much-loved Christmas gift-giving initiative, Be a Santa, returning once again to bring festive cheer to older people across West Lothian who may otherwise spend the season alone.
Since its launch in 2020, the campaign has grown year on year, and to date Home Instead – working closely with local charities, community groups, and partners – has donated gifts to over 1,700 elderly people across West Lothian, ensuring vulnerable and isolated older adults feel remembered and valued during the festive period.
This year, members of the community are invited to support the campaign by donating a gift at one of the designated drop-off points located in local garden centres throughout West Lothian. Those who prefer to participate online can also purchase a present through the campaign’s Amazon wish-list, allowing gifts to be delivered directly to the Home Instead office for distribution.
Each donation will be wrapped and delivered in time for Christmas, offering a thoughtful reminder to local seniors that someone is thinking of them.
Home Instead is also encouraging the public to help raise awareness by simply sharing details of the campaign so that support can reach as many older people as possible.
Graham Stevenson, Owner of Home Instead West Lothian, said: “Although we provide care and companionship to our clients year-round, we know many older people in our wider community don’t have the same support. Winter can be a particularly difficult and isolating time, and by giving even a small gift, we can remind someone that they are valued and not forgotten.”
